Forestry -> Forest Stewardship
Forest Stewardship
The Forest Stewardship Coached Planning Program is an excellent learning opportunity for forest landowners, whether you have 3, 30, or 300 acres of trees. This 36-hour course emphasizes practical stewardship of forest resources. With guidance and one-on-one assistance, you will develop your own forest management plan based on your family's goals and the characteristics of your property. An approved plan may be used to qualify for tax incentive programs administered by King County.
Instructors cover topics such as forest health, silviculture, wildlife habitat enhancement, soils, special forest products, and how to identify and implement your goals and objectives.
The Forest Stewardship Coached Planning Class is taught three times each year in locations around King County. See information at the right of this page for details about upcoming class dates. The cost for the 8-week session is $100.
The Forest Stewardship Program is sponsored by WSU Extension, King County, and the Washington Department of Natural Resources.
Comments from past participants:
"It was a privilege to be able to learn from so many expert professionals on a wide variety of forestry topics in one, well-organized program. I would recommend it to anyone that has a forest to watch over."
"It was valuable to meet other property owners with similar interests."
