By following the model of "Learning by Doing", one way 4-H teaches life skills is through participation in projects. Project categories are;
| Animal Science |
Plant Sciences |
| Mechanical Sciences |
Social Sciences |
| Expressive Arts |
Family Living |
| Environmental Stewardship |
Interdisciplinary |

The core program opportunity which 4-H is established on is the Organized Club, often a multi-project club but could be a single project club. When you join 4-H, you may enroll in the projects which interest you. If you enjoy photography, performing arts, entomology (studying insects), gardening, sewing, cooking, cows, horses, rabbits or other animals, 4-H has a project for you!
